Introduction

This note is written for Google Workspace administrators who want to cut off cloudHQ’s access to their domain. Do the steps in the order given. If you stop after any step, that’s fine, since each one lowers how much cloudHQ can reach.

Step 1: Block cloudHQ’s access to Google data

  1. Sign in as a super administrator. Use a super administrator account to sign in to the Google Admin console.
  2. Open API controls. Click Security and then API controls. Google sometimes renames the menus in the Admin console, so if you can’t find them, search for API controls instead.
  3. Block cloudHQ. Open Manage third-party app access. Find cloudHQ in the list, then set its access to Blocked or remove it.

Once you do this, cloudHQ can no longer read or write your users’ Gmail, Google Drive or any other Google data. Any syncs, backups and exports your users have running will stop and display an authorization error.

Step 2: Remove the Marketplace app

If you installed cloudHQ for your domain from the Google Workspace Marketplace, open Apps, then Google Workspace Marketplace apps in the Admin console. Select the cloudHQ app and uninstall it.

Step 3: Remove the Chrome extensions

cloudHQ can’t delete a browser extension from your users’ computers. Each user can remove it in Chrome on their own: they open chrome://extensions and click Remove. More details are in How to deinstall cloudHQ Chrome extensions.

There’s another way if you want it gone for all your users: use a Chrome policy. In the Admin console, open Devices, then Chrome, then Apps & Extensions, then Users & Browsers. Select the cloudHQ extension there and change its installation policy.

Step 4: Delete the cloudHQ accounts (optional)

Blocking access doesn’t remove any user’s cloudHQ account. The account owner has to sign in and click Delete Account on the My Account page to remove an account and its data from cloudHQ. For details, see How to delete a cloudHQ account. If the subscription is paid, cancel it first.

What cloudHQ stores

Your Google passwords are never saved by cloudHQ. The connection to your Google account runs through Google’s OAuth and OpenID, and that access can be revoked whenever you want. Step 1 explains how. See How does cloudHQ handle the privacy of my data?
