Introduction
File Request for Google Drive by cloudHQ is a Google Workspace Marketplace app that lets you create File Request links directly from your Google Drive interface. This is useful when you are already working inside a specific Google Drive folder and want clients, contractors, partners, students, or team members to upload files into that folder without giving them access to your Drive.
Instead of opening a separate dashboard and manually choosing where uploaded files should go, you can start the request from the folder where you want to collect the files. cloudHQ will create a File Request upload link connected to that Google Drive location, making the process faster and easier to manage.
Use Cases
Here are common reasons to use File Request by cloudHQ directly from Google Drive:
- Requesting files while working in a project folder
If you are already inside a Google Drive folder for a client, project, case, or campaign, you can create a File Request directly from that folder. This makes it easy to ask clients, contractors, or partners to upload documents, images, reports, videos, contracts, or other project files to the correct place.
- Collecting files without changing Google Drive sharing permissions
When you create a File Request from Google Drive, recipients can upload files to the folder you choose without being added as collaborators. This is useful when you want to collect files from outside users but do not want to share the folder contents or manage Drive permissions.
- Creating upload links faster from the folder context
Starting from Google Drive helps avoid mistakes because the File Request is created from the folder where the files should be collected. This is especially helpful for users who manage many folders and want each upload request connected to the right client, project, department, or workflow.
