Introduction
To migrate Egnyte Shared folders to Microsoft 365 SharePoint, you need to create one-way sync pairs for each SharePoint Document Library or folder that matches the Egnyte Shared folder or subfolder:
Egnyte (admin@acme.com)/Shared/HR -> SharePoint (admin@acme.com)/HR_site/Documents Egnyte (admin@acme.com)/Shared/Projects -> SharePoint (admin@acme.com)/Projects_site/Documents ...
If you also want to migrate Egnyte Private folders to Microsoft 365 SharePoint, create one-way migration sync pairs from each Egnyte Private folder to the matching OneDrive account:
Egnyte (admin@acme.com)/Private/user1 -> OneDrive (user1) Egnyte (admin@acme.com)/Private/user2 -> OneDrive (user2) ...
Start by setting up migration sync pairs for Egnyte Shared folders. After that, you can set up migration for Egnyte Private folders to the corresponding OneDrive accounts.
Egnyte Setup (Create an Egnyte Internal App for Large Data Transfer and Authorize Egnyte)
Create an Egnyte Internal App for Large Data Transfer
Before migrating data from Egnyte to SharePoint, you need to authorize Egnyte.
Since a large amount of data will be transferred, you must create an internal Egnyte app and obtain API keys. These API keys allow cloudHQ and Egnyte to connect securely. You can get these keys by following a few simple steps.
Full instructions are in the article, “How to set up internal application for Egnyte backup or sync.”
To summarize:
- Get your private API keys here: https://developers.egnyte.com/member/register
- Contact Egnyte support and ask them to increase your API call limits.
- If needed, set a non-SSO (regular) Egnyte password.
