This option is available for one-way sync or when you are doing a backup from a source to a target cloud service.

The option Automatically re-copy files if we detect tampering of copies on the target / Overwrite all modification on target means that all modifications on the target service will be automatically reverted and replaced by data from the source. If this option is not enabled, when a target file is modified or deleted, the data will not be overwritten.

In other words, changes from a source file will be applied to a target file only if that target file has not been changed. So by not enabling this option, you can modify files on the target service without worrying that your changes will be overwritten.

In short:

  1. For one-way sync, if this option is off and someone changes a file on the target side, the file from the source will not automatically overwrite it and change on the target will not be reverted.
  2. For one-way sync, if this option is on and a file is changed on the target side, the change will be undone and the source file will overwrite it automatically.

Why Would You Use This Option?

  • Prevent Unauthorized Changes:
If someone modifies, deletes, or tampers with files on the backup/target location (either accidentally or intentionally), enabling this option ensures that all such changes are automatically undone. The system will detect the tampering and re-copy the original files from the source to restore the target to the correct state.
  • Maintain Backup Integrity:
This guarantees your backup is always an exact replica of your source, making it much more reliable for disaster recovery and compliance scenarios.
