IT Admin: How to migrate Google Workspace to Google Workspace (multiple users)

cloudHQ migration from Google Workspace to Google Workspace will migrate the following:

  • Gmail accounts (including labels and all metadata)
  • Google Drive accounts
  • Team Drives

The cloudHQ migration process is continuous, so you can continue working on your source domain while the migration is running.

Notes about Gmail account migration

  • All emails and labels will be migrated.
  • Gmail filters and settings (such as signatures) will NOT BE migrated

Notes about Google Drive account migration

  • All files and folders will be replicated from the old Google Workspace to the new Google Workspace domain.
  • Google Docs document file types (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.) will be migrated and will stay in Google native format. All history will be preserved.
  • Sharing settings and permissions on files and folders shared internally will be preserved.
  • Sharing settings and permissions on files and folders shared externally will NOT BE preserved
  • All Google Drive shortcuts will be migrated
  • Application-specific Google Drive files such as Google Maps, Google Forms, and similar will NOT BE migrated

Notes about Google Shared Drives migration

  • All Google Shared Drives will be migrated. All share settings of Google Shared Drives will be migrated.
  • All files and folders will be replicated from the old Google Workspace to the new Google Workspace domain.
  • Google Docs document file types (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.) will be migrated and will stay in Google native format. All history will be preserved.
  • Sharing settings and permissions on files and folders shared internally will be preserved.
  • Sharing settings and permissions on files and folders shared externally will NOT BE preserved

Migration Steps

Migration steps are the following:

  • Create a cloudHQ account using the source Google Workspace admin account.
  • Install cloudHQ on the source Google Workspace domain. The instructions are here.
  • Create a cloudHQ account using the target Google Workspace admin account.
  • Install cloudHQ on the target Google Workspace domain. The instructions are here.
  • Email us at support@cloudhq.net and we will create all migration sync pairs from source to target G Suite. You will be able to review the setup and start the migration. Please email us the following information:
    1. Email address of the Gmail Google Workspace source cloudHQ account
    2. Email address of the Gmail Google Workspace target cloudHQ account
    3. Spreadsheet (CSV, Google Sheets, or MS Excel) with mapping from source Google Workspace domain to target Google Workspace domain
